Putting Together the Pieces is scheduled to for Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.
Putting Together the Pieces is a night for juniors and their parents to begin thinking about college and also start preparing for it. It allows them to take steps towards applying for college through various processes and consider the factors that are necessary to consider when applying for colleges.
“It would be very beneficial for both parents and students to attend as this can lead to some great discussions on helping you decide your college.” said college and career counselor Daniel Gin, who is in charge of this program.
According to Gin, Putting Together the Pieces was originally a follow-up to the junior U.S History classes, but it was decided that it would be better to include the parents as well.
Senior Nashiha Alam remembered when she went to an event similar to Putting Together the Pieces last year. During the event, various colleges came to talk about the different types of schools that are out there and how the private and public colleges differ from each other in terms of tuition. Alam said that the program helped her because it allowed her to know more about the types of colleges and helped her find out which one she would want to apply to in the future.
“I feel like it was good to know anything about college at that point, since I was so lost about where I wanted to be in two years, [like] what kind of college I wanted to go to for four years,” said Alam.
