“Love Never Lies” Unless You are a Cheater
Dec 5, 2022
“Love Never Lies” released its second season on Netflix. This year, the Spanish reality tv show features a new cast of six couples. Although most reality tv shows switch things up for the second season, this one didn’t. For those of you confused as to what this show is about, allow me to explain.
The objective is to regain trust in your partner and overcome struggles or doubts you’ve had along the way. These six couples are all fully aware of what this show is about, and they are all dealing with major trust issues due to their partners’ infidelities. Starting off, we have five couples who supposedly come with a strong bond and a sixth couple whose relationship is very rocky, but they still want to work it out. Furthermore, these six couples all have to take a lie detector test to answer questions their partners have been dying to find out. If they answer truthfully, money will be added to their cash prize and if they lie, the prize money will drop by $1,000.
Answering questions isn’t the only thing occurring in this show, these six couples split up from each other for a week and live in separate villas from their partners; however, their love is challenged by “distractions” in the form of hot single men and women, some whom are exes, who appear to attract the contestants and make them cheat on their partners. While the first group is away, their partners get updates in a form of mini-videos, but the catch is these videos can be messed with. Manipulation plays a big role in this show, so the contestants can only see what the show makers want them to see.
Just like the previous season, the first group is always ruthless, so much for being “in love”. No seriously, half of the people in the first group cheat on their partners. I mean it’s really up to the relationship and their comfort level, but I think I would have to draw the line at seeing my partner in bed with one of the ¨distractions¨ brought in. Also, hearing how they talk about other people at the villa would definitely be my breaking point.
After the first few episodes, the “distractions” from the villa leave and say goodbye to their partners. Then, the contestants attend a ceremony for the EyeDetect test before the next challenge where it’s the other group’s turn to enter the villa. Since the previous group acted out, the second is almost trying to cope with their emotions and get revenge on their partners. Although it isn’t the most healthy way to cope, it makes sense why these contestants do this.
Although “Love Never Lies” didn’t change anything this season, it’s still an excellent show and the contestant’s accents will definitely make you want to watch more. Furthermore, the show is very inclusive featuring straight couples, gay couples, and lesbian couples who are given another chance to discover themselves.
In all, I would recommend watching this show if you’re looking for some drama and if you love a good Spain, Spanish accent. Also, the show includes beautiful scenery which makes you feel as if it was a nice summer day, so for that, I will rate this season a 7.5/10.
