Calvin Terrell will return to Niles West on Thursday, Dec. 1 in order to host affinity and truth spaces in the student commons.

Three different sessions will be held on Thursday, according to a bulletin shared by Director of Student Activities Sarah Struebing. Terrell will lead an Affinity Space for Black students during periods one through four, where they are invited to “share space and reflect on feelings that arise from incidents of racial injustice and hate speech.” During periods six through seven, Middle Eastern and North African students are invited to “unpack the role anti-black racism plays in our communities, and address the harmful language we use,” as the flyer indicated. Then, during periods eight through nine, students who identify as Latinx are invited to “confront anti-blackness and the harmful language used within the Latinx community.” The sessions are open to students and staff. Those interested in attending may RSVP using the code here.
