Outer Banks Season 3 Strikes GOLD

Warning: Some Spoilers
The third season of the hit Netflix series “Outer Banks” made its way to the number one spot for most watched TV shows in the U.S. after its release on Thursday, Feb. 23. The season truly struck gold.
With its first season premiering during quarantine, and its second season during July 2021, OBX fans were ready for the treasure hunt to continue. At the end of season two, the Pogues were left stranded on an island which they named “Poguelandia”. After losing the cross of Santo Domingo and the gold to Ward and Rafe Cameron, the pogues settle in on the island after fleeing the Coastal Venture ship. After the unpredictable season two, expectations were high for the new season.
As one of the biggest fans of the show, I can proudly say that I completed the entire season within the span of two days- with the first eight episodes completed in the first day. This show is truly compelling, and it’s one of my favorites.
Right off the bat, the Pogues were “saved” from the stranded island, but soon came to the realization that it was all a trap, leading to a new conflict with characters. Rafe Cameron and Kiara Carrrera, or Kie for short, are kidnapped by Carlos Singh. The new mysterious character plays the role of the villain- sparking major character development in the previous villains- Ward and Rafe Cameron.
Also in the end of season two, we learn that John B’s father, Big John, is still alive. In the new season’s episode titled “Father and Sons”, the father and son reunite, a heart-warming scene filled with emotion. However, as the plot progresses it seems that Big John’s mind is focused primarily on the gold and not so much on the true treasure- his son.
As for romantic relationships between the characters, things change a lot during this season. For one, the fans, including myself, had high hopes for “Jiara” to happen, a relationship between Kiara and JJ. Things started to progress between them, leading up to the scene where JJ saves Kie from the wilderness camp her parents sent her to. This scene has to be my favorite because it shows how much JJ cares for Kie. Throughout the season, it is easy to notice the way JJ jumped to action to be there for her in every situation. The relationship between Cleo and Pope progresses as well which also becomes a fan favorite.
Although everyone seems to be in love this season, things are a bit rocky for the OG couple, John B and Sarah. After Big John returns, problems between John B and Sarah’s relationship arise. However, they eventually figure things out and find their way back to each other.
Overall, this season was great, I would rate it a 10/10. Although some scenes with Big John were excessive, the show brought itself back up with the cliff hanger at the end. With this said, I am looking forward to season four and finding out the answers to all of my questions.
