Student Activities Director, Caitlin Lucci, just arrived at Niles West and is excited about her new role. Coming from Caruso Middle School as a Coordinator for Student Services, she is bringing a lot of energy and passion to West and is excited for this year.
Lucci brought a lot of ideas to the table and came in hitting the ground running. One of her main goals is to define what it means to have Wolfpack Mentality.
“I am excited to start hearing directly from students about what is currently working and where we can shift some of our practices and approaches so that all students feel included in the Wolfpack Mentality. I would like to work with all students to first more clearly define what that motto means. I envision working with student leaders across all teams, clubs, and activities to ensure that the values and core beliefs we outlined as part of the Wolfpack Mentality are being fostered in all extracurriculars. I also want to work with students to revamp the student commons so it is a more inviting physical space and is reflective of the needs of our entire Wolfpack,” Lucci said.
Plans for this year on what it means to have Wolfpack Mentality have been made clear by Lucci. She has a ton of ambitions for our school.
“I like to see all of her goals come to life. She wants to build more student leadership across the whole school, unite all of our students as one student body and improve our culture and climate. I’m excited to work with her and I’m excited for this year,” Student Activities Assistant Director Barbara Carabio said.
Lucci is thrilled to meet everyone at Niles West. She wants to hear feedback on how we can collectively make our school better and stronger.
“I truly am so excited to be in this position at West, it really is my dream job. I know that as I learn the role and get to find my place within this school community, I may not always do things right, but I am fully committed to getting things right! I want students to seek me out and to come to me when they need an ally. I am seeking to build a reputation for truly caring about students, so I will work to let everyone know I’m here to help make the student experience at West one to be proud of, not just one you’re glad has finally ended after graduation,” Lucci said.
Lucci has been working in schools with a variety of different roles. As a DePaul School of Music graduate, she taught elementary general music in Highland Park for nine years, then moved to a middle school where she coached cross country and cheerleading while sponsoring the student council. She found love in being involved in extracurriculars. A mentor later suggested she look into becoming a Student Activities Director. She moved on to Caruso Middle School as the Associate Principal and then transitioned into her most recent role.
With one of the biggest drives to come to Niles West, Mrs. Lucci is incredibly extroverted and willing to put her all into her job. Being an amazing planner, a natural go-getter and having a type of enthusiasm that is unmatched, she has great things in store for the Niles West community.
“She does not seem afraid to try literally anything. When working with her, she presented so many unique ideas that I can’t recall ever being done at West before. My very first impression of her was that she is very outgoing and not afraid to make her presence known,” junior Alex Wolski said.
Niles West’s newest student activities director has fresh ideas and is enthusiastic about bringing new life to our community. Please give Mrs. Lucci a warm welcome to the Wolfpack!
