The school board approved the tentative teacher’s contract on Monday, Sept. 24.
Even though a three-year contract has been agreed upon by both the teachers’ union and the school board, steps are being made to formalize it.
“We are reducing it to writing. We have to put [the proposals] in contract language,” said NTFT vice president Steve Grossman.
Although there were many changes to the contract, there was no specific proposal for a new school day schedule. For now, the schedule will stay the same.
Other issues discussed in the contracts include salary increases, health care, retirement benefits, and the comeback of Microsoft Word. Additionally, a day-care center will be built at Niles North.
