[singlepic id=1975 w=320 h=240 float=left]This time last year, the Boys Track team was freaking out about going to state. Well, let the freak out begin because once again the Boys Track team has qualified multiple relays and individuals for the state competition this weekend at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Juniors Lavelle Jordan and Neal Omar both qualified for individual events over the weekend (at the Niles West Sectional), and the relay teams for the 400 and 800 meter relay are also going back to state.
The 400 meter relay team of (juniors Jordan and Mike Wright, and seniors Seve Loubriel and Santiago Ochoa) placed first at the sectional with a time of 42.27 seconds. The 800-meter team ( sophomore Jeremiah Jordan, Jordan, and Ochoa and Loubriel) took second at the sectional with a time of 1:28.32, beating the state qualifying time by 1.32 seconds. Both relay teams qualified for state last year, and came out of nowhere to set school records in both events, and win state. Juniors Jordan and Omar both qualified for state in individual events, Jordan in the 100 and 200 meters, and Omar in the 80o meter.
The Boys will compete today and Saturday at the state competition.
