You may have seen him walking down the hallway in his signature Northwestern sweater (a school that he’d like to attend) or walking with some friends. But other than that, you probably don’t know much about junior Will Ranney. His favorite color is purple, he enjoys speaking French, if he could be any animal, he would be a flying turtle. He would prefer a zombie invasion over an alien one, as well as werewolves over vampires (he says that he had the coolest werewolf costume in eighth grade,) and if he could be any super hero, he would want to be Spider-Man.
“He just does the coolest, most finesse things,” Ranney says.
Though he’s not exactly as “finesse” as Spider-Man, due to the fact that he broke both arms at the same time playing football in eighth grade, Ranney has had his fair share of interesting experiences. Born in Chicago, he bounced back and forth between his hometown and Colorado until about third grade. In between that time, he lived in California for about five months. His constant moving around is one of the reasons that his mother is his role model.
“She’s had a really interesting life, and she raised my brother and me by herself. She’s a very strong woman,” he said.
Having attended a small school in a trailer in Colorado, Ranney is very appreciative of what he has now. He says that Chicago is his favorite place that he’s lived, and he also really enjoys attending Niles West because of what a good school it is.
Next time you see him in the halls, be sure to give him a shout-out, especially since he looks just like Eric Foreman from “That 70’s Show.”
