The American Cancer Society’s  fifth annual Bands Battling Cancer will be held at the Cubby Bear in Lincolnshire, Illinois on Sunday, May 19.

The event organizers are looking for any bands from Niles West that would be interested to perform at the event.  The winning band will win a two hour recording session in a local professional studio.

“The event is a great way for Niles West’s bands to go out and perform in the larger community,” student activities director Jessica Pritzker said.

At the show itself, there will be live and professional judges to critique the bands after their performance.  For the bands, two guitar amps, one bass amp, a drum set, an electronic keyboard, mic stands, and microphones will be provided, but are being asked to bring their own guitars, drum sticks, and anything extra that might be needed for a band to perform at their best.  Each band is required to play three songs that are covers, originals, or a mix of the two.
