As part of the Coming Together in Skokie celebration, the IRC will be hosting Filipino Day on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The Filipino Club will be performing Filipino dances, songs, and martial arts periods 5 to 9. Filipino food will also be served in the IRC. Fruit carvings will be displayed 7th, 8th, and 9th period.
Sherry Baehr, a member of the committee for Skokie Coming Together, as well as the head librarian at Niles West, said that the event’s goal is “to promote Filipino culture and an opportunity for Filipino students to promote their culture. ”
Students are welcome to visit the IRC during their free periods and teachers are welcome to bring their students.
