The Girls Varsity Tennis Team had 6 players attend Sectionals. Freshman Eliza Kirov and and junior Katie Chleboun made sectionals as singles players while Senior Andra Sabou, senior Kristine Park, senior Smita Jain and junior Cassie Bergman made sectionals. as in doubles. The top 4 finalists out of 16 make it to state.
Kirov, Park and Sabou scored in the top 16 and advanced to state yesterday. This is the first time since 2009 that West has qualified a player for the state finals and the first time since 2000 that the team has qualified both a singles and doubles team in the same season.
“We want to win. We need to be more consistent,” said Coach George Bravos. “To keep the ball in play is something a tennis player should strive to do. We need serve well and hit ground strokes well.”
