If you’re a fan of Grouplove, Passion Pit, or Foster the People, it’s pretty much required that you check out the newcomers that go by the name Basic Vacation.
An indie rock band with a hint of electronic pop, their songs make it easy to sing and dance along to. Their lightheartedness and easy-going sound and nature make them an easy listen. Unlike most indie bands that seem to make one contemplate life and lay in bed and stare at the wall, Basic Vacation have mastered the skill of projecting happiness through their music.
Their hit single “I Believe” has been all over the radio.
“I believe, I believe in me and you.”
The chorus is chanted throughout the song, and similar styles follow suit in their self-titled album. Every band is known for something, and for Basic Vacation, I would say that their trademark is providing their listeners with “good vibes” — a phrase that has become popular among my generation.
Sending positive “everything will be all right” messages through their lyrics and instrumental skills, listening to Basic Vacation was not only enjoyable, but also fun and relaxing all at the same time. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs that extra push to get through a bad day, or just wants to switch up what they listen to.
Disclaimer: if you’re strictly into death metal, heavy breakdowns, and hate male lead singers with high-pitched voices, this band is not for you; but I highly encourage everyone else to give the power trio a listen with open ears and an open heart.
