In an effort to give back to the greater Chicagoland community, Dance Marathon partnered up with Life Source blood bank and will host a charity blood drive tomorrow, in the student commons.
In order to donate blood, students must be at least 110 pounds, 16 years old, have a signed parent permission slip, and be in healthy shape. Students who are donating blood are recommended to eat beforehand and not partake in grueling athletic activities afterwards.
“[It’s important] because it’s helping people who need blood and you never know when you’ll be in a similar situation,” English teacher Kristen Jackson said.
Many students agree with Jackson that the blood drive is a good opportunity.
“I think it [the blood drive] is a good thing because it gives students an opportunity to donate blood if they want to,” junior Ida Jacobs said.
Sophomore Jackie Chis wants to donate her blood.
“I want to donate because you get blood taken out of you for other people. It’s cool to have your blood in other people,” Chis said.
