Since graduating from Niles West in 2012, Jewell Loyd has continued her basketball career all in hope to make it to the big times, the WNBA. Finally, her time has come, and a little earlier than expected.
Loyd was the first draft pick to the Seattle Storm Professional Women’s Basketball team Thursday, April 16, after deciding to leave Notre Dame to continue onto the pros.
“It’s such a great feeling to even be in the sport that I am, and I can’t wait to learn and grow my game,” Loyd said.
Her former teammates are proud of Loyd and can’t wait to watch her live out her dreams.
“I’m so proud of her. Her work ethic, mentality, and skill is unbelievable. No one deserves it more than her, and I really don’t know what more she could accomplish. I’m excited to see her do amazing things in her professional career,” alum Alex Galanopoulos said.
