Three…Two…One…Swish Kris Jenkins for the win. North Carolina Tar Heels have come a long way since losing at the buzzer last year to Villanova and now are NCAA champions for the sixth time in school history beating fellow number one seed Gonzaga 71-65 in the University of Phoenix stadium.

Sophomore Jaylen Miller didn’t doubt the Tar Heels in believing they would win it all.

“I feel like North Carolina deserved it because they had a really good coach and a good team, and Gonzaga wasn’t even supposed to make it there,” Miller said.

Sophomore Hayden Kipp is happy with the outcome.

“It was pretty crazy but North Carolina winning was expected because they were number one seed and Gonzaga was a weak number one seed,” Kipp said.

Starting point-guard for North Carolina, Joel Berry led the way with 22 points and was the only person on the team to hit a three. Power-forward Isaiah Hicks also had 13 points including the go ahead layup that ultimately won them the game.

On the other side, Gonzaga was led by point-guard Nigel Williams-Goss with 15 points, and shooting-guard Josh Perkins with 13 points. Junior Sandra Nahhas consistently held out her hope for North Carolina.

“I was with UNC all the way, I knew they would win. It was full of upsets so it was weird and really unpredictable but it was interesting to watch,” Nahhas said.

The Tar Heels with coach, Roy Williams have three national championships but this might be the best out of the three considering the bounce back from last year’s heartbreaking loss.
