Ego and confidence. Two unimaginably difficult traits to have, yet I have miraculously managed to attain both. Being confident or cocky — depending on what others refer to it as — is not an overnight ordeal. It takes time to perfect this art, but once done, it’s life changing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been pretty into myself. It all dates back to my first saved Snapchat message to myself which states, “I’m in love with you.” I can genuinely still say that I am in love with myself. Call it what you want, but it’s the truth. Since then, I have continued to send myself little reminders on Snapchat, each of which give me boosts of confidence. If I’m ever feeling down, I know I can read those messages to reassure myself with positivity.

I currently have over a 400 day streak with myself. That means that I make it a point to Snapchat myself every single day to ensure the streak continues to grow. Although I don’t really think the streak itself boosts my confidence, it’s just a fun little thing to do.

Besides Snapchat, my home screen on my phone has been a self portrait since my freshman year. Once I got my computer, my screensaver changed to match the picture of myself on my phone. I don’t know if there will ever be a time in which I change my home screen to a picture of something else, unless it’s an updated, even better picture of me.

I am aware none of these things are fool-proof; this is by not means the perfect recipe for a high confidence, but it’s definitely enjoyable. If somebody were to say something mean to me, or something with the potential to hurt my feelings, it most likely wouldn’t bother me. Sure I’ll think about it briefly and reflect. But comments won’t knock me down.  Haters aren’t me, they don’t fully know me, and I am still going to keep doing me.

I’m definitely not writing this to preach to anybody about how to gain confidence because I’m not sure you’ll come close to finding it here. This is what I’ve done to add some additional joy and positivity in my life. If you came to this article to find out how to be a confident person, I can’t do much for you either. If you want to have a high confidence go home, look in the mirror and just admire yourself for who you are. Nobody — no matter how much they try — has the power to diminish or create your worth unless you have given them the power to do so, just do it yourself.

Personally starting a streak with myself, setting myself as my screen savers, and being 100% infatuated with myself is what I’m into…clearly! I could talk about confidence and self-love for hours on end without getting the least bit bored. I find it — and myself –to be riveting.

Stay positive. Stay bold. Stay into yourself and maybe, possibly you’ll have more confidence
