Skokie and Morton Grove to Commemorate 10th Anniversary of 9/11

With the 10th anniversary of September 11 approaching, Skokie and Morton Grove are preparing to have commemoration ceremonies held on that day.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, the Skokie Fire Department will hold a short but solemn ceremony. It will be held at 7424 Niles Center Road, and begins at 8:58 a.m. However, it is advised to arrive early at 8:45.

Morton Grove’s ceremony will be the same day, but at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the American Legion Memorial Civic Center parking lot, located at 6140 Dempster St.

Morton Grove’s ceremony will include presenting the colors, the national anthem, sounding of fire bells, a volley salute, and taps.

Also in Morton Grove, an interfaith service will be held at St. Martha Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. The address for St. Martha is 8523 Georgiana Ave.
