Mad About Moretti’s

Mad About Morettis

By Ethan Carey, Staff Writer

About a year ago, I learned that a new restaurant called Moretti’s would open on Dempster Street in Morton Grove. I heard of the name before because there are a couple of them in the Chicagoland area, but I had never been to one and or tried it out. The newest addition in Morton Grove opened a couple months ago and while all my friends said it was really good, I still had no interest in going. All I can say  is I was foolish to not have gone earlier.

My family and I went to Moretti’s one night because we were bored with nothing else to eat and said to ourselves, “Why not?” So we gave it a shot. It will be a place we come back to at least a couple times a month. Just walking into the place, seeing how long the wait was for a table and how packed the parking lot was every time we passed by, our hopes and standards were set high. They were blown out of the water by the end of the night.

Moretti’s is a perfect place to go for any occasion, whether it be a night out with your friends or a nice family dinner. There are items on the menu that suit every occasion, no matter what it is. When I went for my first time, I had my first ever deep dish cheese pizza, and I’ve been craving it ever since. I was most definitely not disappointed and neither was my family.

The wide selection of food on the menu was awesome — ranging from pizza to all kinds of different grilled food. The only thing that made me unhappy was my decision to fill up on pizza and not order something else from the vast dessert menu. Next time I am there, I will be sure to not pass it up.

The overall environment of the restaurant was also something I greatly appreciated. There were enough TVs to be able to see one from wherever you were sitting, but the walls weren’t overwhelmingly packed with countless flat-screens like they are at similar establishments. We went on a busy Friday night and were able to be seated within the hour — which was a surprise to us — but the food did take a while to come out. We expected the wait, though, when we saw the crowd.

The best part was the staff. The waitress we had was awesome when it came to filling up our drinks, getting us our food, and cracking some good jokes that even made my dad laugh.

I highly recommend going to Moretti’s if you haven’t been already. Don’t wait for months, like I did. The food was great, the staff was outstanding, and we were in and out of there within 2 hours on a packed Friday night.  I would give the Moretti’s in Morton Grove a solid and well-deserved 9.5/10 and will be back there any time my family wants deep dish pizza.
