Nominations for the Ivy Lynn Chaplik Humanitarian Award for the 2019 Accolades ceremony is due this Friday, Jan. 11. Nominees must be a senior will be awarded at the ceremony.

This award is not based on academic merit. Rather, it is awarded in memory of Ivy Lynn Chaplik: a former Niles West student who demonstrated unique sensitivity, compassion and respect for others. Nominees should be seniors who have demonstrated sensitivity, humanitarian involvement and empathy in some area of their home, school, or community. Examples of humanitarian acts may be acts of compassion, assistance to neighbors or friends, hospital volunteer work and/or work with the physically or mentally challenged.

In order to nominate a student, one nomination letter and two letters of recommendation are required for consideration. The nomination letter is due this Friday, but the two letters of recommendation can be turned in by Feb. 8.
