[singlepic id=2337 w=320 h=240 float=left]The NWN sat down with varsity tennis player (junior) Alexa Bits, to discuss the season, a tough schedule, and the teams season goals.
NWN: How is the team looking this year?
Bits: The team looks promising this season. We only have five returning players this year but all the new players have done well so far.
NWN: What will be the toughest game this season?
Bits: The most difficult will obviously be New Trier (lost 0-8 on Sept. 20) and Glenbrook South. However, the toughest will be schools that we are equal to in talent and we just have to work hard to beat them.
NWN: What are some of the team’s strengths and weaknesses?
Bits: Our strengths this year are our doubles teams. For the majority of the season so far our first singles player, me, and second singles player, sophomore Kristine Park have been playing doubles along with seniors Vicki Georgevich and Lexi Leftakes. The four of us are doing well.
NWN:Who are the key players?
A:The returning varsity players.[Park], [Leftakes], Georgevich, and Analise Vujica, a freshman that’s been playing singles when [Park] and I play doubles. She’s doing great, considering the people she has to face and she plays well and consistently.
NWN: What are some team goals?
Bits: The team goal is always to have a winning season. We also wanted to beat evanston this season but we lost 3-4 after one doubles team had to forfit. I know the goal for the first and second doubles teams is to go to state, something that [Leftakes] and I have been extremely close to these last two years.
