West Shines Light to Honor Spring Athletes

West Shines Light to Honor Spring Athletes

By Daniel Navarro, Staff Writer

This 2020-2021 Spring season for Niles West has been cancelled due to COVID-19. This has saddened many students, especially seniors who had been excited and looking forward to their final season before leaving West.

To honor all of the spring student-athletes who are not able to compete in their final season, the CSCL (Central Suburban League Conference) which includes Niles West will be turning on their stadium lights. Not only the CSCL, but many high schools across the nation will be joining Niles West to honor our athletes. The stadium lights are going on to honor our athletes and to show our gratitude to all of the people working on the front lines of this pandemic including healthcare workers, first responders, and all essential workers.

This event is not a school sponsored event. The event will be taking place tonight, April 17th, from 8:00-9:00 pm. To participate simply drive by the Niles West football stadium and remember to respect and honor all social distancing rules.
