The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in six games to win their franchises 17th NBA championship. Star player, LeBron James, took home finals MVP after putting up an outstanding 29.8 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game and 8.5 assists. Many doubted James due to him aging and being in his 17th year, but as he has done time and time again he proved everybody wrong. However, James was not the only reason the Lakers were victorious. Co-star, Anthony Davis, also put up a Finals MVP worthy performance as he averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks per game. Davis was also the teams defensive anchor and was the primary defender for the Heat’s star player, Jimmy Butler.

I can talk about the brilliance of Davis and James all day long, but the Heat’s gritty style of play won the hearts of basketball fans all over the nation. This tough unit was lead by Butler who averaged 26.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 9.8 assists. After two of the Heat’s best players went down with Injuries (Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo) everyone ruled the Heat out. Butler kept fighting, after a great game three we saw him put up an insane 40 point triple double, he played an outstanding game 5 to push the series to six games. The Heat would lose in game 6 but Butler’s effort did not go unnoticed. Many said it was one of the greatest performances they have ever seen.

Senior Asher Andrews said “Butler was very good, he was aggressive against a defense that sagged off of him. At times he was a little too passive to guys who weren’t making shots. He stepped up and made shots when they needed him to make shots.”

Overall, this finals was very action packed at times and at other times it was not even worth watching. NBA commissioner Adam Silver did a great job with the NBA restart after the hiatus due to corona. NBA fans around the globe were very impressed with how organized the Disney bubble was and in the end it all worked out, we saw a new champion get crowned.
