The Chicago Bears season concluded on Jan. 10 after falling to the New Orleans Saints 21-9 after going 8-8 in the regular season. With the conclusion of this comes off-season rumors starting with the quarterback situation.

Mitchell Trubisky, who started 10 games this past season, has been declined his fifth-year option and enters as a free agency this off-season. QB Nick Foles signed a 3 year, 24 million dollar deal this past off-season when there were questions concerning Trubisky’s role with the team. Foles went 2-5 as a starter, and now all have eyes turn to the Bears front office as they wait to find out who they will pick up to be their next starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Within this article, there will be 3 QB’s who I think we can potentially see in a Bears uniform soon.

To start this off I’m gonna go to the 2021 draft and select University of Alabama QB Mac Jones with the 20th overall pick. Jones was a low rated prospect entering his season, but after putting up 4500 passing yards on top of 41 TD’s his draft stock rose to a potential first-rounder. Mobility has been an issue for Jones, but after sitting behind two current NFL QB’s, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts, his adversity is what attracts the NFL team scouts. He’s got good arm strength and can sit well in the pocket which might attract the Bears front office.

Next up, I have a QB who’s been everywhere on sports media outlets these last few weeks because of his ability to boost an offense, and that QB goes by the name of Deshaun Watson. Watson has been with the Houston Texans ever since he was drafted back in 2017. This past season he put up over 4,800 yards with 33 TD’s, he led the league this season in passing yards while having one of the weakest wide receivers core in the league and an awful offensive line. There’s not a doubt that Watson would make the Bears super bowl contenders.

For my last potential player that I can see being in a Bears uniform is San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo was injured the majority of the time this season, and although he isn’t regarded as one of the elite QB’s in the league, he has what it takes to lead a team to the big game.  He did this just two years ago in 2019 when the 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers are a team that’s talked about wanting a QB change this off-season. Whether it’s from the draft, trade, or free agency, I don’t see Garoppolo in a 49ers uniform next season. Garoppolo is from Illinois, so I see that as potential leverage for the Bears as well.

This past season taught me that the Bears have the right defense and offensive weapons to make a deep run in the playoffs; the only thing missing is a QB. Who will be throwing the ball for the Bears next season?
