Sophomore Nate Lee competed at state this weekend, placing 87th out of a field of 111 at The Den at Fox Creek golf course in Bloomington. His place was an improvement from last year, when he placed 93rd.
Lee and head golf coach Mitch Stern agreed that he hit the ball as good as anyone, but that his putting was lacking.
“I was driving the ball down the fairway very nicely, but that was when problems started coming up. My putting wasn’t the greatest,” Lee said.
This was Lee’s second time at State, having gone his freshman year, and Stern expects nothing less for his next two years.
“If he continues to work hard and puts in the effort during the off season, he’ll definitely be there in the future. Also, his place will continue to improve, as he should be comfortable on the course,” Stern said.
