Following a series of changes due to Covid-19, the girl’s soccer teams are back and ready to play. Multiple changes have been made to the current schedule, and procedures, to abide by national and local Covid-19 restrictions.

Some of the things the teams are anticipating going forward is finally playing as well as getting to know others better.

From the freshmen team, underclassman Mariella Khoshaba said, “I’m looking forward to meeting new people and to get closer to the girls on the team.”

Nora Graham, from varsity girls soccer, expressed why she’s excited for this season, “I’m really excited going into this season because I haven’t played since before lock down. This is also my first high school soccer season and I think I am going to learn a lot and grow a lot as a player this year.”

Some of their goals for this season would be to grow with each game and gain motivation.

“My goal is to at least win a couple games, so we can be motivated throughout the season,” Khoshaba said. Following the day of this interview, Khoshaba said she had a game on April 17. Because it is her first game, some would imagine she would feel frightened and anxious. Instead of being a nervous wreck, Khoshaba says, “she feels great and super prepared” for the game.

“My biggest goal this season is just to continue getting better and better each game. Since we didn’t have a season last year, I was a little nervous going into our first game, but the more I play, the more I feel like I’m getting back into the swing of things,” Graham stated.

Good luck to the team and the others across the Niles West girls soccer program.
