Taqueria Los Comales is located at 9055 N Milwaukee Ave in Niles and is finally open for dine-in. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so no matter what time, they will always have something tasty for you to try. Los Comales opens at 9 am every day and closes at 12 am during the week except Fri. and Sat., they close at 2 am.

It is also available for online pick and delivery through UberEats and Grubhub. After being closed for a couple of months, it feels so good to be able to sit inside and enjoy the food. The restaurant is a bit small but has multiple tables open. During the week the restaurant isn’t too busy but on the weekends they can get slammed with orders from big families.

I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and most of the tables were taken but my family was able to get seated right when we walked in. As soon as we sat down we were asked what drinks we would like, I ordered the horchata. I love how they make the horchata here because it’s not too sweet or too bland. After our drinks arrived we were given chips and red salsa. We also got a side of carrots and cauliflower that were marinated with spices and vinegar. The red salsa they gave us was topped with tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and green peppers. It was very flavorful and paired well with the chips.

After we ordered our food we didn’t have to wait long for it didn’t take more than ten minutes to arrive. I ordered the taco dinner which consisted of three tacos, rice, and beans. They also added a side of avocado, lettuce, and tomatoes on the side. I got three tacos with carne asada meat which is my favorite topped with cilantro, red onions, and red salsa.

The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly that every bite I took was so savory. The orange rice was also pungent and served at the perfect temperature. I enjoy the taste of yellow rice much more than white rice. Lastly, I received a regular side of brown beans topped with white cheese.

I only wish that they would’ve given me more cheese because it paired really well with the beans and having more of it would’ve balanced the ratio between the two. After I ate the top layer of cheese, the beans were bland but now I know how to ask for them to be done next time.

It doesn’t stop there, Los Comales also offers many dessert options. First, they have a refrigerator filled with La Michoacana ice cream popsicles. There are so many flavors available like strawberry, kiwi, mango, coconut, lime, horchata, and the list goes on. You can also choose if you would like the popsicles to be milk or water-based. Both are delicious but depend on your mood because the milk-based tend to be a little thicker. I’ve tried most of the flavors and strawberry milk-based is my all-time favorite. The popsicle size is standard and thick with actual fruit inside. Also, they offer churros at the register which are served warm and are so crunchy and delicious.

If you’re not into tacos, there are many more options to choose from like burritos, tortas, pozole, tamales, enchiladas, and so many more savory options. They also provide a realistic picture of what the food actually looks like made by them on the menu which I find to be helpful for the ordering process.

For an appetizer and good meal that will leave you full at the end, the prices here are very affordable. For two people the price comes out to around $25 or $30 with tip included. In my opinion, that’s a great price for scrumptious authentic Mexican food. I give this restaurant a 9.5/10 for great-tasting Mexican food and customer service. I definitely recommend checking this restaurant out even if you’ve never tried Mexican food, you won’t be disappointed.
