Niles West held a COVID Vaccination Clinic in the Field House Saturday, September 4, from 1o a.m. to 12 p.m. The clinic administered only the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for those interested.

Niles West HOSA students volunteered and assisted with checking in, monitoring, and checking out patrons. “I felt that it was a successful event and a good experience to be able to help out and make sure everything goes smoothly,” senior HOSA member Divya Varkey said. “It’s a good thing that our school offers such events and helps encourage more people to get vaccinated.”

According to Niles West principal Dr. Karen Ritter, 48 individuals attended the clinic. Additionally, the Niles West High School Weekly Newsletter, which was sent out on Sept. 7, stated that 44.11% of students are vaccinated, while 55.89% had no record of vaccination.

As of September 3, there are six positive cases and 32 students quarantined.

There will be another Vaccination Clinic at Niles West on Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. only for the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
