Called 2 Christ, previously known as H2O club (Humble 2 One), is the Niles West Christian club. Students meet every Monday from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in room 1160. The club is run by student leaders and the C2C sponsors Sarah Wagner and Ryan Geu.

During club meetings, students learn about Christianity in a relaxed setting through games, songs, and conversations with their peers.

“We worship and talk here, and it is a really nice and safe environment. You always feel welcome, and we have really meaningful conversations,” junior Kaitlyn Repta explained.

According to senior leader Logan Rose, the club gives students the opportunity to be a part of a religious community.

“It is kind of a youth group for students. They come here every week because they don’t have a church group to go to. We are a community of people who want to learn a little more about Christianity in a non-intimidating atmosphere,” Rose said.

Previous activities that they have held include celebrating Praise Night, listening to speakers, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, and sharing a Thanksgiving meal together.

Most of these events have become tradition, as they have been part of the club for many years. For senior leader Samuel Philips, these traditions were passed on to him.

“My first introduction to the Christian Club at Niles West was when my mom was actually a leader about 20 years ago. I joined my freshman year and wanted to learn more about it. I kind of followed in my mom’s footsteps,” Philips said.

Sponsor Sarah Wagner also had a personal connection to the club.

“I actually was a student here at Niles West. I graduated here in 2000, and this club was already here. I was a student leader in the club way back then. It’s really cool for me to see student leaders rise up to show and tell people about love, hope and Jesus,” Wagner said. “The student leaders explore and discuss Christianity in a refreshing and life giving way.

Although the club focuses on Christianity, anyone is welcome.

“It’s not just for Christians; it’s for anyone who wants to come and might be curious about Christianity. There’s no pressure for people to change their religion; it’s more just a place to come and see what another religion (Christianity) does,” Wagner said.

“I’m just really surprised how welcoming C2C was when I first entered because I was primarily raised Buddhist, but I’ve always had an interest in religion so joining something that wasn’t Buddhist kind of felt like betraying it, but it really was a lot more welcoming than I thought,” senior Khanh Huynh said.
