As Harry Styles and Florence Pugh fans flock to their cushioned theater seats, they stick their hands into buckets of buttery popcorn and wait for the magic to begin. I sit amongst them, as a Harry Styles fan myself, and I wait for “Don’t Worry Darling” directed by Olivia Wilde to come on screen.

Walking into the theatre I had little to no idea what I would be faced with. All I knew about the movie was that Harry Styles and Florence Pugh were the main characters. As someone who is very easily spooked, knowing that this movie fits into the thriller/horror genre would have been good to know. So before you see this movie, here is what you should know:

The movie stars Jack, played by Styles, and Alice, played by Pugh, who are a married couple. The movie is set in a symmetrical suburban town in the 1950s. All of the husbands leave for work at the same time every day in their fancy little pastel-colored cars, and the wives stay home and tend to the house. When the husbands come from work they have fun house parties full of booze. This presents a weirdly Utopian world where something is bound to go wrong. The only rule is the wives are not allowed to ask what their husbands do at work, and they under no circumstances are allowed to go to the restricted part of the desert where “headquarters” is located.

Now that you know at least a little bit of the plot, go ahead and have fun. Make sure to bring a fuzzy blanket to hide under and enjoy yourself!

In my opinion “Don’t Worry Darling” did what it was supposed to. I went through the thought process of “wow Harry Styles is so hot” to “well this is getting a little weird, but it’s okay because Harry Styles is still hot” to “now I’m creeped out.” And the next thing you know, I’m grasping the arm of my friend prepared to hide my face from what comes on screen next. Don’t worry darling, I won’t tell you what comes on screen next because I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.

If I were asked to rate this movie out of ten Harry Styles, I would give it eight Harry Styles. The story line of this movie is spectacular, but only if the viewer pays very close attention to detail. This is not a movie someone should take a bathroom break in the middle of. I think one of the best parts of the movie is the music. Alice hums a tune throughout the movie that set my nerves on end, and the background music reminds me almost of shrieking but on pitch and in an artful way. This is a movie that I am very glad to have seen, but I don’t think I will be ready to see it for a second time anytime soon.

I left my seat in row H seat 14 with a love for Florence Pugh’s acting, goosebumps covering every plane of skin, and very very wide eyes. In fact, everyone that I passed on the way to my car had a similar facial expression. I would recommend going to see this movie and while you’re at it, enjoying Harry Styles’ good looks.
