The library will be open after school starting Oct. 19 due to the hiring of after school supervisor Elise Byunb. Previously, it has been closed every day after school, because there wasn’t a supervisor available to watch the library.

“We didn’t have a staff member to work the after school hours. Our previous staff member took a different position in the library so since the beginning of the year we were working on getting a new person in place,” Circulation Clerk Alfredo Luna said. The library staff has now finished the interviewing and hiring process with Elise Byunb and are excited to open Monday-Thursday from 7:15 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 7:15 a.m. -3:45 p.m.

Students are already making plans to study in the library after school. “I am so excited to go to the library after school. My study group for my english class is planning on meeting there. The staff at the library are very helpful. I don’t always have time to spend going to the library during school hours, so it will be very convenient to go after school,” senior Sadie Pimlott said.

Elise Byunb is excited to welcome students into the library after school. “Arts and crafts will be open. You can check out books and do everything you can in a normal school day. It’s going to be a little more loosy goosy then during a normal school day because it’s after school,” Elise Byunb said. She will be the after school supervisor and there will also be student workers there to help.
