Every year we see two types of people on Halloween, the ones who stay in and the ones who go out. Even if you’re staying and have no Halloween plans, it can still be an eventful night. Here are some top 5 horror movies to watch this Halloween.

1. The Night House (2020)

A woman transitions from wife to widow after the suicide of her husband. Following her husband’s suicide, the woman has visions and dreams about the gruesome things her husband did before his death as well as the cause of his suicide. This film is underrated, yet it is very wonderful. It is perfect for those who enjoy twists and mysteries.

2. The Shining (1980)

A well-known classic written by Stephen King, The Shining, is an eerie film that should be added to your watch list. It focuses on a man, Jack, who attempts to get rid of his writer’s block while staying at a hotel with his family. While he does his best to overcome his writer’s block, the universe has other plans for him. Jack finds himself seeing and experiencing horrifying visions that mess with his sanity. Furthermore, he begins to discover the dark secrets the hotel has. Although this movie is popular, it is definitely not overrated, and it deserves the watch, given the film is done wonderfully and definitely does get you spooked.

3. Get Out (2017)

When a man meets his girlfriend’s family for the first time, everything seems normal, and he is greeted with open welcoming arms. However, as the movie progresses, the audience can infer that his girlfriend’s family is a bit odd. The man begins to notice strange behaviors from the family, and he eventually figures out why he had a weird vibe all along. This movie is a mind-breaker, and it is great for those who are big fans of suspenseful, psychological horror movies.

4. Scream (1996)

Although Scream is such a mainstream movie, it is still such a good classic. What was once a peaceful town, turns into a living nightmare for its residents as more murders appear. Throughout the movie, many suspicions and mysteries arise as the murders only get more and more intense. This classic not only presents a mystery but some comedy as well, something enjoyable to watch with friends. This is a movie that everyone, especially horror fans, should watch at least once.

5. The Conjuring (2013)

Investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren are brought to a couple’s home to help them and their five daughters handle the paranormal activities that have begun in their house. However, as the investigation unravels, the number of paranormal events increases. Not only is this movie scary on its own, but it is also based on true events making the whole movie even crazier.
