Finally, the time has arrived when we put away our pumpkins and take out a wreath. The transition from November to December is a harsh one but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to do.

  1. Go to the Christkindlmarket Chicago- The Christkindlmarket is an event held annually and entry is free. I would just recommend bringing cash, so you can buy the Christmas market treats. The main treats sold are both sweet and savory like Glühwein – Hot wine mulled in spices, Bratwurst – Roasted sausages of all kinds, Kartoffelpuffer/Reibekuchen – Potato pancakes, Heiße Maroni – Roasted Chestnuts, Bretzl – a big soft pretzel, Marzipan and chocolates, Apfelstrudel – German/Austrian style apple strudel, Raclette – hot Swiss cheese draped over potatoes, pickled veggies, and bread. Aside from bringing cash, it is also recommended to wear something warm and to avoid going on weekends, so you don’t have to wait in line.
  2. Brookfield Zoo Holiday Magic- If you’re a fan of Christmas lights, Brookfield Zoo Holiday Magic is the perfect place for you. It includes over two million immersive LED lights, and it has two miles worth of colorful lights synchronized to music and a 600-foot-long illuminated tunnel. Aside from the lights, there is also a 41-foot-tall Christmas tree. Admission to Brookfield Zoo costs $24.95 for adults, $17.95 for children ages three to 11, and $19.95 for seniors 65 and over. To check out dates and more information, you can visit their website.
  3. Visit Maggie Daley Park Ice Skating Ribbon- If you’re looking to do something in the city, you should try going to Maggie Daley Park Ice Skating Ribbon. It is open to the public, and you can rent out skates if needed. Also, it is an outdoor skating rink, so it is recommended to dress warmly. For more ticket information, you can check out their website.
  4. See Holiday Sights–  This Holiday sightseeing is a three-hour walking tour, perfect for those who like to be active all while exploring new things. Along the way, you can also indulge in famous Chicago holiday food, sweets, and beverages. To check out some more details, here is the website .
  5. Visit Millennium Park Christmas Tree- Chicago’s famous Christmas tree is finally up, and it is the perfect place to take pictures to spice up your feed. It’s a great sight to see to get you in your Holiday spirit and better yet, you don’t need to pay to see it.
  6. Watch Christmas Movies- Going outside during the holidays suck, but you can always have a fun time while staying indoors. Just put on your favorite Christmas movies and just binge with friends or by yourself, either way, it is an ideal holiday activity, and you get to stay warm, who wouldn’t want that?

Regardless of what you choose to do this winter, make sure to spend it with friends and family and take a breather.
