Boys’ wrestling is just starting to get the hang of things, but they still have some things to improve on given their loss against Depaul on December 8th. Although they didn’t win, the boys definitely aren’t discouraged, they see this as an opportunity to improve.

When it comes to their thoughts about the game, the boys’ can all agree that they did their best, “Thursday wasn’t bad, we may have lost the meet, but I think we did good and competed well,” junior Peter Mestousis said.

Though the boys didn’t win they kept their heads up and looked at the positive side of things, “Overall, we all did pretty well. The majority of us won our matches,” senior Joshua Chupich said.

From the match, some players realized they have things to improve on while others found out their strengths.

“Personally, I think my offense is great, but I think I need to improve on making my moves sooner. I think I waited too long to hit moves when I could’ve beat him a lot quicker if I had used my offense more aggressively,” Chupich said.

The boy’s varsity team also doesn’t have a full roster, which can be another factor the boys have to fight through.

“I think my performance on Thursday, December 8th, against DePaul Prep was good. I pinned the kid, but I’m just happy I was able to put some points on the board for my varsity team to start us off well. We do not have a full varsity roster, so our team can’t really win as a whole through team points. Nonetheless, we still put up our best fight out there, and we all put in the work at practice so that each of us can be great individual wrestlers,” senior Joshua Logsdon said.

As a whole, the team can agree that they need to keep practicing, “Our goals for this season are to win and to prove to ourselves and others that we are an amazing team. I think we can improve on being stronger because in wrestling, aside from technique, a major factor in winning is having a lot of strength,” Mestousis said.

“Me and this amazing group of guys and girls are going to keep training and giving 110% so that we can continue this amazing performance throughout the season,” Logsdon said.
Good luck to the boys’ wrestling team, and the rest of their season, with only 6 meets left they are sure they will do great!
