February is the month of love. With this month we can expect many different things: a new partner, friendship, or even an excuse to buy those clothes you have been eyeing for months. Regardless, this month holds plenty of things and emotions for many people. Whether you’re with a date or not, Valentine’s day can hold lots of fun, and you can even spend this day watching some rom coms.

  1. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Of course, we have to start off with a classic. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days features two main characters Andie Anderson, played by Kate Hudson, and Ben Berry, played by Matthew McConaughey, both of whom are trying to get a new position in their jobs. While Andie, an advice columnist, is given the job to get a man to leave her in 10 days, Ben makes a deal with his boss that if he can get any woman to fall in love with him in 10 days, he will win a big campaign. Although the storyline is predictable, this rom com is truly a classic and deserves a watch at least once in your life. Furthermore, McConaughey is very charming in this film which adds another reason on why you should watch this movie.

2. 10 things I hate about you

Another classic worth watching is 10 things I hate about you. It is about a girl named Kat Stratford, played by Julia Stiles, who comes off  as a “scary” person due to her feisty and rebellious personality. Her sister Bianca, however, is the complete opposite, and she attracts many guys one of whom is called Cameron. Cameron is new to Padua High, and he finds himself falling for Bianca; however, Bianca’s father set a house rule for Bianca not to date anyone until Kat does. When Cameron finds out about this, he makes it his mission to find Kat a potential partner. This partner being Patrick, played by Heath Ledger, who agrees to go out with Kat if he gets paid. As the story progresses, these two eventually discover they have feelings for one another. I guess you can say every rom com is predictable, but the poem Kat presents at the end of the movie to her classmates makes this movie worth watching.

3. You People

Now if you’re not into the cheesy rom coms, this new movie featuring Jonah Hill might be the perfect fit for you. Although this movie does have romance, it has more of a comedic side to it which is great for those of you who enjoy the comedy, more than the actual romance. With this being said, this movie focuses on a couple and their families as well as their culture clashes and differences in general. Furthermore, it features modern love and new sayings that makes the movie comedic and not cringy at all.

Overall, whether you have dinner plans or not this Valentine’s day, you can always rely on a good movie to keep you company.
