Boys Tennis Preview

Apr 3, 2023

After such an exciting season last year, boys tennis looks to have an even better season this year, making some key improvements from last year in order to shock their conference. The team looks to show both the conference and the school how much they have improved from last year.

With the season just beginning, people can already tell that the team has made progress. It is an excellent sign for this upcoming season. They have been way more competitive with other teams in matches that might not have been as close last year.

I believe everyone on the team has improved in some sort of way. I am especially grateful for the coaches because of their willingness to take time out of their schedules to help guide and teach us to play better tennis,” junior Yaeshin Park said.

You can feel the excitement building around the team this year and how eager they are to play.

“We had a great team last year. We had a young team that just needed more experience. All players were very eager to learn and work hard. Many players worked hard during the off-season to improve their game,” varsity head coach Andrew Suarez said.

It’s great to see that even though they had a great team last year, they still want to enhance their skills. Having players who are more eager to work every day they come to practice can help the team because it can help push the other teammates to work harder and play better.

Junior Daniel Woo thinks the boys should develop their work during the tennis matches.

“In tennis, you have to be mentally in the zone at all times. If you lose focus at one moment, it can change the course of the game. As we are constantly playing matches in practices and against other schools, I can see that we get more confident in our own skill and potential.” Woo said.

Being mentally focused for a match is so important for the team to succeed and see improvement in games. Being able to stay focused while other games are going on or when your game is just back and forth and staying focused for that extra time can help push our team to be an even better team than they already are.

You can just feel the excitement and eagerness the boys have to play in their upcoming match. Come watch and support the team play. We wish the team nothing but the best in the upcoming season.
