Opinion: AI Is Going Too Far
Apr 26, 2023
Due to the beginning of artificial intelligence in platforms such as ChaptGPT and even Snapchat adding an AI chatbot, many teens and people can access and use AI freely.
In my opinion, AI seems to pose a dangerous privacy risk because it knows everything. It is frightening that the AI is out there and knows so much. AI can access everything, and this technology will only continue to improve. They already have above-average intelligence and they have so many resources to be better than us humans. It seems like it is infiltrating my social media, on both Snapchat and TikTok.
It was scary to open Snapchat one day and see a random user called “My AI” at the top of my chat page. Also, I don’t know why Snapchat would add an AI because so many of my friends are using it as a joke. People are changing the AI’s avatar to either be their personal “type” to date or for the AI to look funny. I’ve seen so many people post on their stories about making the AI say certain words and you can use the AI to write essays, quote from a book and so much more, which is threatening academic integrity and creativity.
Through TikTok, I have learned another scary thing that AI can do. It can imitate singers’ voices and “release” new songs from those artists. Sure it does sound cool when Kanye was singing an Adele song, but it’s weird. According to Audiocipher there is Uberduck which is a free text-to-speech web app that synthesizes celebrity voices instantly and gets them to say anything you want.
Because of this AI, it makes me think of the future, and honestly, robots are scary. What is the point of humans if there is an AI that can do everything for us? Also, what is the point of school if I can just use AI to help with all homework? Additionally, if AI takes off and advances even more what is there to say there won’t be thousands of job losses? On TikTok, I saw an AI performing a lash appointment, which could destroy people’s lives if their job gets taken away due to it.
That is why AI is not good for society. I don’t need Artificial Intelligence taking over my life because I am perfectly fine being my own person. The number of risks and just knowing that AI is not done making an impact yet since it is only just beginning. The next thing you know there will be robots walking around and our whole lives are taken over.
