Niles West security received a call on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from a “Frank Anderson” who claimed that persons unknown would bomb a “Niles” school.
Principal Kaine Osburn and the security team are collaborating to heighten security.
“We have heightened our awareness of who is coming in and out of the building,” said Osburn.
According to Osburn, existing emergency procedures (e.g. evacuation plan) would be used if needed.
In addition to an internal network of security, Niles West is working with Niles North, Niles Central, and the Skokie Police Department to discover additional information about the bomb threat.
In effort to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, Osburn says that the security team will not publish any specific security measures.
“[The security team] will be making their decision [on security measures] based on the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff,” said District 219 community relations director Jim Sczcepaniak.
