Television has developed a lot throughout the years. We have shows from Modern Family, to Dog the Bounty Hunter, to even a little hit wonder known as the Jersey Shore (trashy, yet hilarious). But the oh-so-special TV show that has most recently caught my attention is Glee. I think I’m in love with it.
For starters, the cast is a hit. Every character is relatable to someone you might meet in high school. You’ve got the lovable jocks (Finn and Sam), the typical cheerleaders (Quinn and Brittany), the people who you never really get mad at (Artie/Mercedes/Tina), the annoying girl who talks too much (Rachel), the fashionable gay kids (Kurt and Blaine), the bully (Puckerman), the teacher who everyone loves (Mr. Schuester), the teacher everyone hates (Sue Sylvester), the heavier tough girl (Lauren) and even the girl who loves to get around (Santana). Each character provides his or her own very special input that makes Glee come together and be a hilarious, marvelous television series.
Keying into the music that the show offers, you get a tasteful variety to all types of genres. You’ve got artists like up-and-coming Justin Bieber, classic Barbara Streisand, sensual Britney Spears, even a little bit of the soulful Aretha Franklin. Ever single week when the episode comes to its conclusion, a song sung that night always finds its way into my head for the next 24 hours. That’s when you know it’s a good TV show: when you remember it the next day.
But I have to admit, my all-time favorite part of this intriguing show, is the DRAMA that it entails. Like how Mr. Schuester is in love with the guidance counselor Ms. Pillsbury. Which is kind of sad, since that guy has had a pretty sucky love life already. And um hello?! Why did Quinn have to cheat on Sam, and with Finn of all people? And why is Sam now going out with Santana? Predictable but still random. Darn! Quinn and Sam were such a cute couple! And the fact that Rachel and Kurt had some beef because she had kissed Blaine while intoxicated was just too funny. By the way, Kurt and Blaine are a match made in heaven. The writers need to make them date by now because it’s so obvious that they’ll be together. And Rachel’s kind of getting on my nerves a little bit? Does she always have to be so dang needy all the time? Who cares if you’re a trend setter. Yea, a month ago I would have known nothing of this, and would have probably been watching Law & Order or something. Yuck.
A couple weeks ago, I would have never categorized myself to be a future “Gleek.” I had heard of the show, and seen under five episodes, but wasn’t that interested in the story, since I had not been watching it from the beginning. But one boring day, in which everyone was busy, my two friends and I decided to watch TV (come on, we had nothing better to do). Scrolling through channels, suggestions arose like “Intervention!” while others were “Jersey Shore!” “No!” I said, luckily controlling the remote at the time. Suddenly, something caught my attention. What was this? A Glee marathon was on Oxygen! “Let’s watch Glee,” I said, knowing very few of the episodes. It was entertaining, yes, but more importantly it was something none of us knew anything about.
As I switched the channel, Rachel’s spellbinding voice filled the room, and we all watched in awe. For the next couple hours, we soaked up all the Glee we possibly could. Episode after Episode. (My favorite was “Rocky Horror Glee Show” and “Special Education.”) From then on, I’ve been drinking as much Glee as I can. Every Tuesday at 7, I rush home just in time to watch my new favorite show. It’s a spectacular twist to relatable topics. And best of all, it’s a hit.

I seriously cannot see myself living without Glee. When I first heard about it, I thought that it was sort of like American Idol, but geared towards teens. One day, my mom and two sisters were running around the house yelling, “GLEE IS ON TODAY! I CAN’T WAIT!” and during it all, I was like, “What the heck are you TALKING about?!” I watched the newest episode with them that evening, and I have to say, I was hooked. I mean, I’m not OBSESSED with Glee, but it’s always something to look forward to when the week is dragging. However, if I had to choose between Glee and CSI: NY, I would choose the latter in the time it takes an airbag to deploy (It’s something I learned in chemistry today. See, sometimes school comes in handy!). No one can pry me away from the TV when a new episode of CSI is on. NO ONE.
All in all, I think that the producers of Glee could have done better. Seriously, why did they have to make Sam go for Santana? She’s obviously going to break his heart, and it’s not as if she actually cares if she does. Poor Sam. Hang in there, buddy. Hopefully Quinn will come to her senses and get back with you! 🙂

Wouldn’t Glee be a little inappropriate for your little sisters? As well as awkward to watch with your parents? And SAM broke up with Quinn because she cheated on him, not the other way around.

No, my mom pretty much lets them watch. My sisters can’t watch all of the episodes, but they know the gist of what happens. My mom is pretty cool when it comes to watching TV (because I only watch TV twice a week; Tuesday for Glee and Friday for the new episodes of CSI: NY)
It doesn’t really matter who broke up with who. All that matters is that they aren’t together. But yeah, Sam broke up with Quinn. Serves her right. Maybe he will give her a second chance…
