With the start of school comes the beginning of the girl’s tennis season. So far the wolves have been doing an excellent job bringing home wins, and the team agrees that they are off to a great start, especially since they have been practicing with each other during the summer.

Junior and second-year varsity member Stephanie Sorisho knows that though tennis is considered an individual sport, having your team is incredibly important.

“All of the players are super important because we need them all to win each of their games. We rely on each other,” Sorisho said. “I think our strongest players are our seniors due to their experience. Not only are they amazing at tennis but they also give the best advice.”

Senior and two-year varsity captain Emily Duong has big hopes for the future and her last season of playing.

“I definitely want the team to build a sense of community and improve as players,” Duong said. “I’m feeling really sentimental though. I’ve known some of these girls for a long time and I feel like they’re family, even the new girls. So far we [the team] are making strong bonds.”

Junior Bella Reza talked about who West is looking forward to playing and how the team is building their chemistry.

“Niles North is a pretty big competitor of ours. Their team is made up of some really good players, plus there’s that rivalry with our two teams too,” Reza said. “We are trying this new thing where each Friday is some kind of theme for practice. The team is pretty pumped for it.”

Be sure to support the girls by stopping by their next home match against Glenbrook South on Tuesday.
