NCAA College Football has been well underway, now approaching week eight. NCAA sports are hardly ever disappointing, as college athletes play their hearts out every game to try and make it to professional leagues. The 2017 college football season is no exception, and the power rankings for the top teams are in.

  • Alabama Roll Tide– Alabama, being the NCAA College Football Champions in 2015, and losing the championship game in 2016, remain in what seems to be their typical number one spot. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Bo Scarbrough have led the team to a 7-0 record, blowing out just about every opponent the Roll Tide has faced, averaging a whopping 42 points per game. The Roll Tide defense has also only allowed opposing defenses an average of 10 points per game.
  • Penn State Nittany Lions Another undefeated team (6-0, bye week in week seven), Penn State ranks number two in NCAA college football. The Lions’ offense has been nothing short of powerful, with quarterback Trace McSorley throwing almost 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns through six games. Penn State has a tough schedule ahead of them, as they play their first top-ranked team on October 21st, the Michigan Wolverines.
  • Georgia Bulldogs The Dawgs have demolished a majority of their opponents, averaging just over 37 points per game. Georgia also played one of the best teams in college football, Notre Dame, and won 20-19, handing the Fighting Irish their first and only loss thus far. Being 7-0 heading into week eight, Georgia will play the non-ranked Florida Gators on Saturday, Oct. 28th, as they have a bye week.

As the rest of the season’s progress, the top 25 teams will begin to play each other and other tougher games. The blowout games will most likely decrease, and undefeated teams may not be undefeated much longer. Be ready for much more exciting college football games, as top teams will do their absolute best to rise through the ranks.
