Announcement: Support & Healing Space Offered to Students and Staff

Prior to the recent events occurring in Memphis where twenty nine year old Tyre Nichols was beaten and killed, Niles West principal Dr. Karen Ritter sent out an email to the Niles West community regarding a healing and support space being offered.
“In light of the recent news events that happened over the weekend with regards to the beating and killing of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, we would like to offer students and staff a healing space today in the Student Commons during your lunch periods 3-7,” Ritter wrote.
The healing space will be happening today and “support will be available from our Niles West staff for those who would like to ask questions, process information, have productive conversations, and/or express their feelings about Tyre’s death,” Ritter wrote.
Students must show ID to enter during their lunch periods. Social workers and school psychologists are available for visits.
