As Valentine’s Day approaches, it is time to get into the spirit of love. Whether or not you have a significant other this season doesn’t matter, you can still get into the spirit of love and listen to these timeless throwbacks.

Can’t Help Falling in Love- Elvis Presley

When it comes to love, I truly believe old songs like these will never be topped. The way Presley sings about his significant other is something that is hard to find. Nowadays, love songs are all superficial and they all sound the same; however, this song carries a unique tune, and it truly captivates the feeling of falling in love. Although the lyric, “take my hand, take my whole life too,” is very simple, it holds an important meaning. It expresses how to fall in love with someone means to willingly surrender yourself into deep commitment and devotion no matter the ups and downs.

Loving You- Elvis Presley

Another beautiful song by Presley is “Loving You,” just like the song above, this song demonstrates commitment and how no matter the seasons or how far apart one is to another, their love will never change. Unlike the previous song, this one is shorter, but it still conveys the same sweet message and follows that soft melody.

Stand By Me- Ben E. King

Unlike the past two songs mentioned, this song takes a more upbeat tempo and is a bit more loud. However, similar to the other two songs, this one represents the love for a significant other and how no matter what is going on, they are going to be okay because their lover is right by them.

Puppy Love- Paul Anka

Right of the bat, this song sounds like it came from a romance movie. When listening to this song, I can just imagine two partners navigating young love at the beginning stages such as getting to know each other and then finally dating and falling in love. In the lyrics, “and they called it puppy love, just because we’re seventeen,” I believe this expresses how people diminish young love just because they are both young; however, those feelings are still very real and they hold deep emotion. Not only that, but this songs conveys that message that just because someone is young and in a relationship doesn’t mean they are going to breakup.

Overall, there are plenty of love songs out there that give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside, but I believe these four will always hold a special place and will always express the true meaning of love.
